Skip hire in Chinley

If you’re planning a renovation, moving house, or tackling a garden project, skip hire in Chinley can make waste disposal much easier. With Buxton Skip Hire, you can choose from a range of skip sizes to match your project, enjoy convenient delivery and collection, and benefit from an affordable local service.

Our domestic skips are ideal for small household jobs such as clearing out a shed, loft, or garage, while larger skips are perfect for builders and landscapers handling heavier loads. We also provide flexible hire options, meaning you can keep your skip for as long as your Chinley project requires.

It’s important to plan where your skip will be placed. If you have a driveway, that’s usually the best option. If not, and your skip needs to be left on the road, we can advise you on the necessary council permit process. We’ll make sure your skip hire runs smoothly from start to finish.

As with all skips, certain materials cannot be placed inside. This includes asbestos, gas bottles, tyres, and electronic appliances. Our team will guide you on how to deal with these items safely and legally, ensuring your waste is managed responsibly.

Buxton Skip Hire is a family-run business with years of experience helping customers across the High Peak. Known for reliability and affordability, we are the go-to provider for skip hire Chinley, supporting households and businesses alike.

Skip Hire Guide

[+] What size do I need?

The volume of our skips is measured in cubic yards as follows, Mini - 2, Midi - 4, Small Maxi - 6, Large Maxi - 8.

1 cubic yard holds approximately 765 litres or around 10 average bin bags.

Unlike some other skip hire companies, who supply maxi skips that are 6 or 7 cubic yards, our skips are true to size.

The size you need also depends on how much you break down your waste and pack it into the skip, such as bulky furniture etc… But remember all skips no matter the size must be filled level with the sides. We are unable to collect overfull skips due to the waste not being contained within the skip and deemed as a dangerous load when driven down the road.

Access can also determine the skip size you need. We operate 3 different sizes of skip trucks (3.5, 7.5 and 18 tonne gross vehicle weight). If you have a tight driveway and have heavy material to dispose of (such as bricks or soil), you will need to hire a smaller skip so our smaller trucks can lift the full skip. Please contact us for advice.

[+] What can I put in my skip?

Skips at our standard hire rates are for general and inert waste such as soil, rubble, garden waste, packaging, wood, old furniture etc. Any waste on the list below has restrictions or cannot be placed in a standard rate skip. [+] How long can I keep the skip?

We operate a large fleet of well maintained skips, this allows us to offer a hire period of up to 28 days. This may be reduced during peak periods and although our terms and conditions state a 7 day hire period, it very rarely gets as low as this. Please contact us to find our current hire periods at time of booking.

[+] Road permits

We are registered and maintain good relationships with all local authorities and can apply for permits on your behalf. We do not put a mark up on permits, meaning we don’t charge VAT.

Different local authorities have different charges and are from 7 to 28 days. Similarly some require 48 hours notice and others can provide permits same day. Please contact us to find the permit arrangements for your local area.

[+] Booking online

You can book and pay for your skip easily at any time, using our online booking system. We adjust our availability in real time, process your booking and send confirmation within 30 minutes during working hours, giving you the confidence we’ll deliver.

What type of waste should I select when booking my skip?

We use the waste type you select primarily to gauge the weight and determine what size truck to send for collection.

  • Commercial/Industrial - Select this for shop or office clear outs (light weight)
  • Green - Select this for garden waste like shrubbery, branches etc… and small amounts of soil (<20%) (light weight)
  • Hardcore - Select this if the waste is going to be majority (>50%) bricks, concrete, tiles etc… (heavy weight)
  • Heavy Mixed Construction/Demolition - Select this if the waste is going to be mixed builders waste WITH lots of brick or soil. (heavy weight)
  • Household - Select this for house clearances, loft and garage clear outs or furniture (light weight)
  • Light Mixed Construction/Demolition - Select this if the waste is going to be mixed builders waste WITHOUT brick or soil. (light weight)
  • Soil - Select this if the waste is going to be majority (>50%) soil or clay (heavy weight)

Should I select a collection date?

If you know confidently you will be finished with your skip on a specific date, select a collection date. If you are unsure or will need an exchange, don’t put a collection date and give us a call or email requesting collection or exchange. We will collect your skip within 72 hours, but usually next day or even same day from the request (subject to availability).
